DivorceWriter Review: A Strong Entry In The Do-It-Yourself Divorce Market

divorcewriter.com reviewNot all divorce forms completion services are created equally. For every My Divorce Papers or iDivorce Forms, which have both been in business for years, there is a fly-by-night website that offers little support and is gone in six months. For today’s online divorce review, we won’t be talking about those sites. Instead we’d like to look at another strong entrant into the do-it-yourself divorce field: DivorceWriter.

How To Do It

If one is familiar with sites like the first two we mentioned — MDP and IDF — then you know that quality websites do not leave their clients to their own devices. DivorceWriter is no exception. Using a similar-but-effective Q&A approach, the website automatically populates each field on the forms that are specific to one’s region with each answer received.

The website also offers general legal information, though it stops short of being something to constitute legal advice. (For that, you’ll need an attorney.)

You may also need an attorney if the DivorceWriter eligibility requirements are not met. DW gives you a test before beginning the process and lets you know whether your divorce is at high risk of conflict.

If you are eligible and you’ve answered all the questions, then you’re ready to file.

Potential Drawbacks

A DivorceWriter review wouldn’t be complete without discussing some of the potential drawbacks.

While DW does a lot right, and is a great value even for the slightly higher regular price of $229 with children and $199 without — special price is $149 for either scenario — it’s still a bit more expensive than iDivorce Forms and My Divorce Papers under ordinary pricing structure.

Additionally, you have to wait for the completed forms to arrive snail mail before taking them to the courthouse while with MDP and IDF, forms are print ready upon completion.

In Summary

Save for a slightly higher price and a longer wait time for the completed forms, DivorceWriter is a great value to anyone seeking a DIY divorce who doesn’t know where to start. We hope our online divorce reviews for DivorceWriter have been helpful. Best of luck in your journey to find the service that works best for you.
